Make their Voices Heard!

The Project
This project seeks to promote awareness about the gendered experiences
of high school girls in the Northern Province in order to promote and
underscore the importance of girls' education. Awareness of their experiences
and the importance of education for girls - among other issues - will
be raised via the production of a number of voice recordings - produced
by the girls - for broadcasting by community and commercial radio stations
in the Northern Province.
Specific
Project Objectives
The specific objectives include:
- Provide technical training in the use of Information and Communication
technologies;
- Provide technical training in digital radio production;
- Provide gender training;
- Research and compile a training agenda and materials;
- Facilitate the production of 2-3 broadcast ready radio spots in 2-3
languages on themes identified by the workshop participants; and
- The production of the broadcast ready "spots" in various formats
- (CD, MP3, etc) to facilitate the dissemination and use of the materials
by the community, public and commercial radio sectors.

first training course was held in Johannesburg with a group of girls
from Limpopo. At the end of the course the girls had produced four
radio-ready spots! |
