Women'sNet
Women'sNet is a vibrant and innovative networking support program designed to enable South African women to use the Internet to find the people, issues, resources and tools needed for women's social action.

SA Wise
South African Women in Science and Engineering (SA Wise) is an association for those who support the idea of strengthening the role of women in science and engineering in South Africa. The SA Wise Web site provides information about the SA Wise mailing list and newsletter, activities, and links to relevant resources.

   

Africa

The Acacia Initiative
The Acacia Initiative is an "international effort to empower sub-Saharan African communities with the ability to apply information and communication technologies to their own social and economic development." Among the resources available at the Acacia site is a report on Supporting Women's Use of Information Technologies for Sustainable Development, which includes case studies on African women's use of ICTs.

   

Developing Countries/Global

TWOWS
The Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS) is an independent, non-profit and non-governmental body based at the offices of the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in Trieste, Italy. TWOWS is the first international forum to unite eminent women scientists from the South with the objective of strengthening their role in the development process and promoting their representation in scientific and technological leadership. The TWOWS Web site offers information about membership, organizational objectives, TWOWS activities, and information about obtaining the organization's directory of women scientists and engineers in developing countries.

APC Women's Programme
The APC Women's Programme aims to increase women's access to training and facilitate information flow between North, South, East and West on gender issues. It offers opportunities to women and women's organizations in all regions of the world, but has a particular focus on redressing inequalities in access to technology related to social and ethnic marginalization and the North-South technological gap.

Global Women's Networking Survey

WIGSAT
Women in Global Science and Technology (WIGSAT) facilitates global networking among women scientists and technologists on critical issues in science and technology for development. One of the main goals of WIGSAT is to promote international collaboration and coalition building among women scientists and technologists (both formal and nonformal) around the world, for policy advocacy and action which recognises and supports women’s contributions to S&T for development. Sophia Huyer of WIGSAT compiled the IDRC/Acacia report on Supporting Women's Use of Information Technologies for Sustainable Development.

Studio XX
Studio XX is a feminist group located in Montreal, Canada. Its mandate is to facilitate women's acces to technologies (particularly computer technologies) by way of training, research and dissemination of information of interest to the women's community.

   

Europe

WITEC
Women in Technology is a European organization which undertakes activities to increase the motivation, development and support of women in science, engineering and technology. Their Web site offers a searchable database of women scientists, information about training programmes, and sets out the benefits of WITEC membership.
