16 Days of Activism to Combat Violence Against Women: Publicise Your Events in a National Calendar
(Commission on Gender Equality, 2/11/98)

Background

Internationally the period between November 25th (International Day of No Violence Against Women) and December 10th (International Human Rights Day) is observed as 16 Days of Activism to Combat Violence Against Women.

As part of a public awareness programme in the build up to December 10th , the National Action Plan to Improve the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights (NAP), in conjunction with the Office of the Status of Women (OSW), the Commission on Gender Equality (CGE) and civil society bodies are co-ordinating events around the 16 days of activism. These stakeholders are looking to produce a national calendar of events planned for this period. This information will be fed into a tabloid publication, which will receive national distribution.
