Contact Masimanyane for more information.

In 1998, the world celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The 1998 Global Campaign for Women's Human Rights is an initiative by diverse women's organisations throughout the world to focus world wide attention on abuses of women's rights in all aspects of society as well as celebrating the creativity and perseverance of advocates around the world who work to end violence against women. This campaign goes beyond the previous statement that women's rights are human rights to emphasise that there are no human rights without women's rights.

Masimanyane Women's Support Centre forms part of this 1998 Campaign. Part of Masimanyane's contribution to the 1998 Global Campaign is its participation in the CEDAW campaign, including:

  • the co-ordination of the CEDAW NGO Shadow Report
  • participation in the Monitoring Programme at the UN during the special session of the CEDAW Committee in New York in June
  • follow up programme focused on dissemination of information through provincial workshops
  • radio talk shows
  • additional public education programmes
